Blossom Projects :
Empowering Youth Through Education and Opportunity
At Blossom Projects, we believe that every young person—regardless of background—deserves the chance to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. Our programs serve as lifelines in communities where economic hardship and instability are daily realities.
Impact & Outcomes
Our core mission is to guide students not only through academic curricula but also toward sustainable next steps—whether that’s continuing education or entering the workforce. The outcomes below reflect the success of our structured support
72%
Program Completion
72% of students complete our residential program
28% continued their studies after our program
20%
Continued Studies
37%
Employment
37% of our students found work after our program
More than one‐third of our program graduates secure work—often within local businesses, social enterprises, or apprenticeships we help facilitate. This early employment not only boosts household income but also gives students hands‐on experience, boosting confidence and community engagement.
Why These Outcomes Matter:
A 72% completion rate shows that our holistic approach—combining academics, emotional support, and livelihood training—resonates with students and keeps them on track. When 65% of our graduates either continue their studies or enter the workforce, we see the circular benefits: reduced drop‐out rates, stronger family stability, and a gradual uplift in community well‐being.

Who Are Our Students?
Our student body reflects a diverse mix of backgrounds, united by a desire to learn and create change in their lives. Understanding their circumstances helps us tailor support effectively.
Poverty
- Below Poverty Line/Antyodaya Anna Yojana (poorest of the poor): 25%
- Students in this category come from the most vulnerable households—often landless laborers, destitute individuals, or families without stable shelter. Of particular concern, approximately 25% of our entire student population is at risk of homelessness, based on their eligibility for AAY support.
- Below Poverty Line/Priority Household: 70%
- These families live on or below the government’s poverty threshold, qualifying them for subsidized essentials such as food, healthcare, and education.
Caste
- 97% of our students belong to castes designated by the Indian government as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Castes, and Other Eligible Communities
Homelessness
- About 25% of our students could be at risk for homelessness given their inclusion in the Below Poverty Line category and the eligibility for inclusion in this category.
Why This Matters
When 95% of our students live in poverty or face extreme economic vulnerability, every resource we provide—tutoring, mentorship, meals, and safe learning spaces—becomes a critical investment. By meeting basic needs first, we create the stability required for academic and personal growth
The Multiplier Effect on Families and Communities
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
By equipping students with life skills, literacy, and vocational training, we interrupt generational poverty. Graduates earn income, support siblings, and invest in local economies.
Turning Vulnerability into Hope
For the 25% at risk of homelessness, our safe learning environment doubles as a haven—providing stability that families might otherwise lack. Over time, this safe space—and the nurturing relationships formed with mentors—bridges the gap between despair and possibility.
Building a Network of Support
Through parent‐teacher workshops, community events, and partnerships with local health clinics, Blossom Projects fosters an ecosystem where children are surrounded by caring adults. This “village” mentality helps communities take ownership of each child’s success.
Your partnership helps extend our reach—providing textbooks, meals, transportation, and stipend support for families in crisis. By investing in Blossom Projects, you invest in a future where every young person can realize their full potential, regardless of economic barriers. Together, we can transform vulnerability into opportunity—and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Alumni Stories
Abhijith – From Trauma to a Nursing Career
Abhijith joined Blossom Projects in 2022 after a traumatic childhood marked by domestic violence and instability. Brought by a teacher after 10th grade, he completed the two-year Plus Two program, where his kind, caring nature stood out—often tending to sick students. Guided by the Blossom team, he pursued a nursing degree at Dhanwantari Group of Institutions in Bangalore. Abhijith has since recruited two more students, creating a ripple effect. Grateful for the support he received, he remains closely connected to the Blossom community.
Gourisankar – Building Confidence and Giving Back through Education
Gourisankar, from a struggling family in Chengara, joined Blossom Projects for the two-year Plus Two program. His confidence and communication skills grew through the training and support he received. After graduation, Blossom helped him secure admission to a BA Malayalam program at Kariavattom Campus in Trivandrum, where he now studies alongside his sister and fellow alum, Kavya. Grateful for the safety and opportunity Blossom provided, Gourisankar often returns to mentor younger students—proof that the impact of Blossom Projects continues well beyond the classroom.
Rehan – From Instability to a Tech Job in a Big City
Rehan, from Pathanamthitta, joined Blossom Projects’ 10-month Advanced English and Leadership Program after a difficult childhood in a broken, unstable home. With Blossom’s support, he completed grades 11 and 12, earned a computer certificate, and developed strong English and public speaking skills. These helped him land his first job in marketing and later a position at Wipro in Hyderabad. Rehan proudly paid for his sister’s wedding and credits Blossom for transforming his life: “I studied 10 years in school, but never got the love and encouragement I received at Blossom. Blossom shaped me.”
Yadhukrishnan – Breaking Barriers and Building a Future
Yadhukrishnan, from a tribal family in Kasargod, joined Blossom Projects’ three-year program—starting with the 10-month Advanced English and Leadership Training, followed by the two-year Plus Two program. Once shy and quiet, he grew into a confident leader. After graduating, he moved to Ernakulam to pursue a diploma in logistics and now works part-time as a loan manager. He says, “Without Blossom, I wouldn’t be here. It gave me the confidence to study, work, and leave my village. Riding my bike across Kerala to Blossom showed me how far I’ve come—literally and in life.”
Aswani – Unstoppable, Ambitious, and Confident
Aswani, from Ernakulam, spent two years at Blossom Projects after completing her 10th grade. Brought by her grandmother due to a difficult family situation, she was shy and quiet at first. Through Blossom’s English and Leadership Training and Plus Two program, she gained confidence and found her voice. With Blossom’s support, she completed a BA in English Literature and now works at a restaurant in Kochi to save for her master’s degree. As she says, “Blossom helped me come out of my shyness and gave me the confidence to follow my dreams.”
Varsha – From Shy Student to Regional Finance Leader
Varsha, from Ernakulam district, joined Blossom’s 10-month Advanced English and Leadership Training Program after completing her Plus Two. Through the program, she gained the confidence to speak English, which helped her secure a job as canteen staff at Lisie Hospital. Step by step, she advanced in her career—first becoming a branch manager at a finance company, then rising to oversee the entire southern region. Today, Varsha works as an agent for IVF treatment services across South India, continuing her journey of growth and success.
Sudheepa – A Trailblazer for Education in Her Tribal Community
Sudheepa, from a tribal community in Wayanad, completed her Plus Two at Blossom Projects, where she found the support and structure she lacked before. With few opportunities for girls in her community to study, her father brought her to Blossom. There, her confidence and academic skills grew. She is now pursuing a BA in Political Science—the first in her family to receive higher education. Sudheepa says, “Without Blossom, I would have failed. It gave me proper guidance.” Today, she inspires others in her community and makes her parents proud.
Haritha – From Hostel Warden to PhD Scholar
Haritha, former girls’ hostel warden and Political Science teacher at Blossom, recently passed the National Eligibility Test (NET), qualifying to be a lecturer. After once failing due to lack of study space, she used quiet hours at the hostel to prepare, later teaching at St. Therese’s Women’s College and securing admission to a PhD program.
She is now pursuing research on “Tribal Women’s Participation in Political and Social Spaces,” inspired by her time at Blossom. Living and working with tribal students, and visiting their homes in Attappadi, deeply moved her and motivated her to use academics to support tribal communities.
